Job Position:   Chinese Ministry Pastors

Job Location:  Fremont Chinese Evangelical Free Church D/B/A Arise Church, 42828 Albrae Street, Fremont, CA 94538

Responsibilities:

1. Regularly prepare and preach Cantonese sermons based on Bible Scriptures and applicability to church congregation;

2. Conduct sacraments such as baptism and communion and perform ceremonies such as weddings and funerals;

3. Coordinate weekly Sunday service preaching schedule, including inviting and working with guest speakers;

4. In collaboration with Chinese ministry team, pray and discern vision for the church’s Cantonese-speaking congregation and communicate vision to the church;

5. Develop strategies for various ministry programs based on church vision and translate the vision into tangible goals;

6. Provide leadership to ministry teams of staff and volunteers to implement the strategies to reach goals;

7. Lead in identifying potential volunteers and church members to serve as church leaders by assessing their individual talents and gifting;

8. Work with current church leadership via intentional mentoring to build up and to disciple prospective church leaders;

9. Lead others through discipleship training and live as an example; and

10. Oversee the spiritual well-being of members of the Cantonese congregation, provide spiritual guidance and pastoral counseling in times of crisis, and visit the sick.

Requirements & Qualifications:
Employer requires completion of two academic years of post-secondary education in divinity, theology, or closely related field. Candidate must also have at least five (5) years of work experience as a Pastor to a Cantonese-speaking congregation in a church setting. In addition, the employer requires the following:

1.    Demonstrated ability ministering to adults and young adults who primarily speak Cantonese including pastoral care and outreach activities gained through at least five (5) years of work experience;

2.    Must have demonstrated ability delivering sermons in Cantonese gained through at least five (5) years of work experience; and

3.    Must have demonstrated ability preparing and writing material based on biblical principles in Chinese gained through at least five (5) years of work experience.

All years of experience may be gained concurrently.  

Travel is required once a year to denominational conference within the U.S. or Canada for up to 3 days.
